The Oaks: Easy Meal Ideas

Lamb Kebabs, ready in less than 10 minutes


  • Lamb kebabs – Aisha’s Lamb Kebabs available at Iceland
  • Onions 
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickled red cabbage
  • Pickles 
  • Chili sauce or puree
  • Greek yogurt
  • Lemon juice 
  • Fresh mint 
  • Flatbread or Pitta bread 


  • Follow the instructions on the packet of Aisha’s lamb kebabs, microwave the kababs until food is piping hot.
  • Meanwhile prep the filling; finely slice onions, and tomatoes. 
  • For the sauce; Mix two heaped table spoons or Greek yogurt to a dish, add finely chopped fresh mint and the juice of half a lemon.
  • Construct the kebab; spread the mint sauce over the flatbread, add chili sauce to taste, layer on the chopped onions and tomatoes, pickled red cabbage and pickles, finish off by adding the lamb kebabs, fold and enjoy!

We would like to commission a London based street artist to bring a blank wall area to life at the shopping centre.

The Oaks is located in the heart of Acton. All visitors to the shopping centre will walk past this work.

Possible themes to consider could be Acton, community, living in London, or the environment around us. The medium must be paint, photography or mixed media.

The budget for this project will be £2,500 including artist fee. The work will be in place for a minimum of one year.

How to Apply

Applications should be submitted to by Wednesday 13thOctober 2021 and include:

• A short statement which sets out your vision for the art work together with any draft visuals / mood boards

• A CV or portfolio of previous works

All applications will then be reviewed by the The Oaks’ marketing team, as well as the landlords of the shopping centre.

Ealing Volunteer Centre  

Ealing Volunteer Centre promotes, supports and develops volunteering within the borough. Every year they support over 400 charities and community groups and enable over 2,000 people to volunteer in Ealing.

Acton Homeless Concern  

Acton Homeless Concern are always in need of reliable volunteers. Roles that you could be helping with include serving meals, talking to clients, sorting clothing and handling deliveries.

Action West London  

Action West London value their volunteers and are keen to recruit people who want to make a difference by helping disadvantaged young people and adults.

FoodCycle East Acton  

FoodCycle East Acton is at the Old Oak Community & Children’s Centre each week cooking tasty, community meals from surplus food. They have opportunities available for people to come along and cook, be a host to guests and collect the surplus food donations from local suppliers.
